THE FIRM

The Firm carries on the practice of Advocates and Solicitors, Notaries Public, Commissioners for Oaths and Agents for Trade Marks, Patents & Designs. The Firm and our Partners have been profiled in leading legal periodicals such as Asia-Pacific Legal 500, Chambers Asia, Asia Law Profile, Who’s Who Legal, Managing Intellectual Property Magazine, and Asian Legal Business.

Our clientele ranges from multinational corporations, international airlines, the world’s largest medical indemnifier, the world’s leading pharmaceutical companies, owners of some of the world’s most valuable brand names in the food and beverage industry to leading local and international financial institutions, statutory boards, large and medium enterprises and high net worth individuals. The Firm is on the list of legal contacts of the Australian High Commission, the British High Commission, the Canadian High Commission, the New Zealand High Commission, the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China and the US Embassy.

The Firm is currently about 80-strong. The Firm’s office is at Clifford Centre in Raffles Place, Singapore’s Central Business District. The Firm also operates Donaldson & Burkinshaw (I.P.) Sdn. Bhd. in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, which handles Malaysia intellectual property matters. Through affiliation with 66 MULTILAW independent law offices located worldwide in North and South America, Europe, Africa and the Asia-Pacific, the Firm has an extensive network and representation worldwide. Apart from the MULTILAW legal affiliate, the Firm has memberships with leading global, regional and local professional organisations such as the International Trademark Association (INTA), the Asian Patent Attorneys Association (APAA), the Pharmaceutical Trade Marks Group (PTMG), the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI) and the Association of Singapore Patent Agents (ASPA). The Firm is also a member of the Singapore Trustees Association (STA). The firm’s partners also have professional memberships with prestigious international organisations, such as the Commonwealth Magistrates & Judges Association (CMJA) and the Inter-Pacific Bar Association (IPBA).

Steadily expanding as a general law practice, the Firm has been continuously upgrading the manpower and specialist skills required to cope with the large volume of sophisticated legal work and commercial transactions resulting from Singapore's emergence as a major financial and business hub in this timezone. Over the years, the Firm has nurtured many high calibre pupils and lawyers who have gone on to become Senior Counsel, law professors, founding Partners of boutique law firms, and successful members of the Bar in various areas of legal practice, locally and abroad.
