Ya Yun is a Patent Scientist with the Firm’s Intellectual Property Practice.

Ya Yun graduated from the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science (First Class Honours) degree in Chemistry and Biological Chemistry. She was placed on the Dean’s list during her undergraduate studies. She went on to pursue and obtained her Ph.D. in Chemistry and Biological Chemistry under a postgraduate research scholarship from the Nanyang Environment and Water Research Institute (NEWRI).

During her Ph.D. research, Ya Yun specialized in electrochemistry and environmental chemistry. Her thesis work involved examining electrochemical mechanisms of micropollutants present in water as models for metabolic processes. She has acquired experience in studying a range of phenolic compounds with a host of electrochemical techniques as well as assessing the surface coverage provided by carbonaceous nanomaterials on electrodes. Ya Yun has published her research in several scientific journals including:

Her work was also presented at an international conference held in United States during the 224th Electrochemical Society (ECS) Meeting in 2013.

Ya Yun completed the Graduate Certificate in Intellectual Property Law course that was jointly offered by the IP Academy and the Faculty of Law, National University of Singapore and was awarded an overall Distinction for the course.
