Emily is a Salaried Partner with Donaldson and Burkinshaw’s Litigation & Dispute Resolution Practice and Medico-Legal Practice Group. Her main areas of practice include civil, commercial and medical litigation as well as building and construction law.

Emily regularly acts as prosecuting counsel on behalf of various statutory boards. Emily has also acted as defence and prosecuting counsel in disciplinary proceedings involving professionals such as doctors, dentists and architects.

In addition, Emily has experience in disputes involving a variety of projects, such as airport terminals, educational and healthcare facilities, residential and commercial buildings. Emily also undertakes non-contentious advisory work for projects such as contract administration and preparation of infrastructure and construction-related documents.

Matters of significance which Emily has acted for include:

·       Successfully representing a contractor in defending a landmark application to set aside an adjudication determination made under the Building and Construction Industry Security of Payment Act: (SEF Construction Pte Ltd v Skoy Connected Pte Ltd [2010] 1 SLR 733).
·       Representing a contractor in a SIAC arbitration commenced by its sub-contractor over claims for prolongation costs, wrongful deductions and work done in relation to an airport terminal project.
·       Representing a contractor in separate High Court suits commenced by its ready-mixed concrete suppliers arising from the sand ban in Indonesia.
·       Representing a GST-registered company and its directors in their application for judicial review against the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore.

Emily graduated from the National University of Singapore and is admitted to the Singapore Bar.
