LEE Bee Yen Megan

Megan is a Legal Executive specialising in trade mark and industrial design matters. She has extensive experience advising on trade marks and design matters and also undertakes the prosecution of Singapore and foreign trade marks and design applications. She manages many of the firm’s key trade mark and design portfolios for both local and international clients. 

Prior to joining Donaldson & Burkinshaw, Megan served as a Trade Mark Examiner in the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) from 2001-2004. She also represented the IPOS in a number of overseas seminars, notably the EC-ASEAN Intellectual Property Rights Co-operation Programme-(ECAP) seminar on Relative Grounds for Refusal and the ASEAN-USPTO Workshop on Geographical Indications. She also conducted training for and presentations to members of the public and visitors to IPOS. In addition, Megan contributed to several chapters of the Singapore Trade Mark Manual published by the IPOS.

From 2004 to 2008, Megan served as an Examiner at the Registry of Industrial Designs, IPOS. During that period, she also handled all aspects of applications for international registration of industrial designs under the Hague Convention, where she liaised with the World Intellectual Property Office (WIPO) on policy issues, statistics and practice matters under the Hague Convention. In 2006, Megan was part of the working committee for the Diplomatic Conference for the Adoption of a revised Trade Mark Law Treaty, which was revised as the "Singapore Treaty on the Law of Trade Marks”. She also handled all aspects of the Plant Varieties Protection in Singapore and liaised with the International Union for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants (UPOV). During her tenure at the IPOS, Megan also served as a Commissioner of Oaths.

Megan graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1997 and joined Donaldson & Burkinshaw in 2008.
