Former top state prosecutor Mr Lawrence Ang Boon Kong has joined the firm as a Senior Consultant with effect from 4 July 2011. Mr Ang, who will be with the firm’s Litigation & Dispute Resolution Practice, specialises in corporate offences and criminal law cases. 
 
Mr Ang led the prosecution in several high profile cases including that of:-

Mr Ang, who joined the Singapore Legal Service since 1972, was also Director of the Commercial Affairs Department from 1991 to 1999. Before retiring from the Legal Service at the end of 2008, his last held position was Principal Senior State Counsel, Criminal Justice Division, Attorney-General’s Chambers.

After over 40 years with Donaldson & Burkinshaw, Senior Partner, Mr Tan Bok Hoay, will retire on 30 June 2011.

Mr Tan graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (Hons.) from the then University of Singapore in 1966 and joined Donaldson & Burkinshaw in March 1968. His practice areas include intellectual property, corporate, insurance, landlord and tenant matters. Being a long-standing and prominent member of the local bar, he has delivered numerous legal papers at law conferences and seminars in many parts of the world. He has also been an active contributor to legal publications and leading professional journals on his areas of expertise.

The Partners and staff of the firm would like to express their appreciation to Mr Tan for his many contributions to the firm over the years. We wish Mr Tan a happy retirement and many more years of good health ahead.

Mrs Angela Teo-Yap, Senior Partner, will succeed Mr Tan as the Managing Partner of Donaldson & Burkinshaw with effect from 1 July 2011. Mrs Yap joined Donaldson & Burkinshaw in 1980 and heads the firm's Corporate and Commercial and Real Estate and Conveyancing Practices.

Mr Eric Tin Keng Seng, Partner of Litigation & Dispute Resolution Practice and Founder/Head of Medico-Legal Practice Group, has been honoured with the Ten Outstanding Young Persons Award (Merit Winner) on 5 May 2011 by Junior Chamber International (Singapore) for his work in the legal sector. The Ten Outstanding Young Persons Award is an annual award that has been in Singapore since 1972. It honours individuals from 18 to 40 years of age for their personal and professional achievements in 10 categories, one of which is political, legal and/or government affairs – the category which Mr Tin was nominated. Past recipients of the Award include Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong (1975), paralympian Dr William Tan (1986) and singer-song writer Stephanie Sun (2006).
