Eric is a Litigation Partner of Donaldson & Burkinshaw and an advocate and solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore. He undertakes civil, commercial, corporate and criminal litigation, with special interests in medico-legal, intellectual property and public law cases. He graduated with Bachelor of Laws in 1996 from the National University of Singapore, where he later obtained a Master of Laws under a Singapore Legal Service scholarship.
Between 1996 and 2005, he administered civil and criminal justice as a District Judge, Magistrate, Coroner, Deputy Registrar, Subordinate Courts and Referee, Small Claims Tribunals; upheld military justice and discipline as President, General Court Martial, and contributed and published papers on various aspects of Singapore’s justice system for judicial conferences in India, United States of America, Australia and Europe.
Between 2005 and 2007, he served in the Attorney-General’s Chambers and assumed prosecutorial and advisory duties as a senior Deputy Public Prosecutor and State Counsel, during which he handled several cases and matters of significant national and public interest. He was also trained as a legal assessor by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), and a member of the inter-ministry committee on anti-money laundering and counter terrorism financing. He has been a Course Consultant of the Board of Legal Education’s Postgraduate Practice Law Course since 1997, lecturing/tutoring young lawyers. He also helps indigent accused persons through Law Society’s Criminal Legal Aid Scheme. Since 2008, he has been appointed an adjudicator of the Financial Industry Dispute Resolution Centre (FIDReC).
