Donaldson & Burkinshaw has grown with
Singapore through the century, steadily expanding into a full service law firm. The partnership is based in the heart of the Central Business District at Raffles Place. It provides the professional skills required to handle the large volume of sophisticated legal work resulting from Singapore's emergence as a major financial and business centre

PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES

Partners in the firm play an active role in the Law Society of Singapore and its sub-committees. They also serve on and assist committees in representing other professional and commercial bodies. Due to these commitments, the firm is actively and continuously participating in the legal and economic affairs of
Singapore, and is able, where appropriate, to make representations in the interest of its clients to the relevant authorities.

The firm also involves itself in the academic and business side of the legal profession, by attending and participating in domestic and overseas conferences, and is a member of the Asian Patent Attorneys Association (APAA), the International Trademark Association (INTA), the Pharmaceutical Trade
Marks Group (PTMG) and the Association Internationale pour la Protection de la Propriété Intellectuelle (AIPPI). It contributes papers to professional publications and cooperates in the publication of books and journals on legal subjects. Clients also share in the benefits of these activities through the legal seminars arranged by.the firm for them.

HU
MAN RESOURCE

In the quest to provide the best possible service to our clients, we have built up a comprehensive support system which is constantly monitored and fine-tuned to improve the service we provide.

The firm is organised into different practice areas led by experienced lawyers and supported by able paralegals.
Modern business and financial transactions are not confined to rigid categories. We therefore place an emphasis on flexibility, and in complex multidisciplinary matters, we organise our lawyers and paralegals into teams that are capable of handling every aspect of a client's matter.

We have an excellent resource centre headed by a resource centre executive, and assisted by an able team. The resource centre has one of the most extensive reference collections amongst law firms. This enables research, information retrieval and publication to be performed with thoroughness and speed.

Singapore's multi-racial society and its position as the hub of the region frequently gives rise to the need to handle documents in other languages. Accordingly, for the benefit of its clients, Donaldson & Burkinshaw maintains its own in-house translation service which has the ability to handle documents in Chinese,
Malay (Bahasa Malaysia/Indonesia) and Tamil.

TECHNOLOGICAL INFRASTRUCTURE

Any operation providing a service to sophisticated financial and trading concerns must be supported by adequate technological infrastructure. Donaldson & Burkinshaw recognises that legal practices are no exception and has invested in a wide range of state-of-the-art office equipment and technology.

The resource centre research system has been computerised to provide instant and up-to-date information and material. A customised system has also been specially developed for the handling of our Intellectual Property Department database.

These systems, integrated with other office automation equipment, provide the foundation for the efficient and swift service that we are able to provide to clients.
